Richard Howe, Earl Howe, was born in London, England, on March 19, 1726, the son of Emanuel Scrope Howe (1699-1735) and Mary Sophia Charlotte von Kielmansegg (1703-1782). William Bentinck, born in 1764, was the son of captain John Albert Bentinck and Renira van Tuyll van Serooskerken. He married Lady Frances Augusta Eliza Pierrepont on October 20, 1802.
